Griffin Exotic Wood

Brazilian Rosewood
(dalbergia nigra)

Brazilian Rosewood has been used for a long time as the wood of choice for guitar backs.  Due to intensive harvesting for many decades, the Brazilian government and international treaty banned export of this wood in 1991, in order to allow the remaining forests to recover.  The wood below comes from the stumps of the trees cut before 1991, which is legal for export.  We were able to buy this old stock offered below.  Color varies from very dark to very light.   This is not figured wood, but the grain is straight or very slightly wavy.   We are not allowed to ship this wood outside the USA.
unless specified otherwise.

Please order by letter below.

NOTES: Piece A has two tiny pin holes (one goes through the edge of a corner only) as well as a burl knot (visible in photos). B is figured (not fine sanded, a little hard to see all the figure--see closeup below) and might be the figured stump wood that came in about 15 years ago. (Back then, the Brazilian government allowed someone to dig up the old stumps of dead trees and sell them, since no further trees were harmed as a result. Most of those pieces had the same figure you see in piece B.)

If the item is missing below or you get a note that it is unavailable when you put it in the shopping cart, that means that piece is sold already.

No surprises: ALL four sides visible in photos:
