Brazilian Rosewood from Griffin Exotic Wood
Brazilian Rosewood
(dalbergia nigra)
Brazilian Rosewood has been used
for a long time as the wood of choice for guitar backs. Due to intensive
harvesting for many decades, the Brazilian government and international
treaty banned export of this wood in 1991, in order to allow the remaining
forests to recover. The wood below comes from the stumps of the trees
cut before 1991, which is legal for export. We were able to buy this
old stock offered below. Color varies from very dark to very light.
This is not figured wood, but the grain is straight or very slightly wavy.
We are not allowed to ship this wood outside the USA.
